Give attention to road rehabilitation, revenue reorganisation, Ohaneze chieftain tells Soludo

Alphonsus Nweze

As the clock ticks for the swearing in of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on March 17, 2022, the chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nnewi South Local Government Area chapter, Chief Nnaemeka Onuzulike, has asked him to focus on the rehabilitation of Anambra State roads and reorganisation of revenue generation in the state.

In an exclusive interview with Prime Pointers, Onuzulike who is also the chairman of Iron Dealers Union, Ogbaru Local Government Area, said there are lots of things Prof. Soludo will tackle in the state but he should first face road rehabilitation and construction.
He mentioned decongesting and opening up of Onitsha to reduce gridlock in the commercial city by dualising the 3-3 to Aguleri junction.
The Ohaneze chieftain also said the Governor-elect should link 3-3 with Awka road to decongest the areas in addition to giving the road leading to Main Market from Bridgehead a facelift.
Onuzulike said the road from Ukpor-Ebenator- Osumenyi-Ekwulumili-Unubi-Uga-Akokwa is very strategic in opening that area and therefore should be tackled by the Governor-elect.
He said the revenue generation which was hijacked by some elements during Governor Willie Obiano’s last days in office should be seriously addressed and reorganised.
The market leader lamented that most of the revenues collected by these hoodlums went into private pockets of individuals.

“I trust Prof Soludo. He will flush them out. You will see most of them will run. I hope he will hear people’s complaints and confront them frontally. He should strive to ensure that the entire revenue collection in Anambra State is reorganised,” he said.
The Ohaneze chieftain louded Prof. Soludo, stressing that he has all it takes to provide good governance to the people of Anambra State.

He added that all the contestants of November 2021 Governorship election were men of wisdom and all were eminently qualified but Soludo is the best.

“We see Soludo as one who will offer good leadership to Anambra people. When he was in Central Bank of NIgeria (CBN), we all saw what he did, consolidation of banks. No bank collapsed under him. He is very knowledgeable but even if he goes wrong in any area, stakeholders will tell him to retrace his steps,” said Onuzulike.

The Ohaneze chieftain called on Ndigbo to be united and rally round their leaders .
“Let’s give our leaders respect. We need to organise ourselves to speak with one voice in NIgeria. Outsiders respect us but we do not give ourselves respect. We must love ourselves in order to fight for our interests together,” he concluded.
